Dental Work on a One-Week Holiday in Turkey: What Fits, What Needs Two Trips

Dental Work on a One-Week Holiday in Turkey: What Fits, What Needs Two Trips

Yes, a good deal of dental work fits into a one-week holiday in Turkey, if you choose by the number of appointments rather than by the name of the treatment. Fillings, bonding, whitening, re-cementing a crown and emergency pain relief take one visit. Crowns, veneers and a Hollywood smile take 5‑7 days over two appointments, and a root canal takes one or two. Implants and All-on-4 need two trips, because bone needs months to heal.

Which treatments fit into a one-week holiday?

The table sorts treatments by what they ask of your calendar, using usual figures that the examination can change for your mouth. Everything down to the Hollywood smile row fits a single stay in Side; only the last two rows need you to come back.

What can be done in a single visit?

Bonding or an aesthetic filling is the clearest case: tooth-coloured composite is cured with LED light and shaped in one session of 30‑90 minutes, usually without anaesthesia and without removing healthy tooth. In-office whitening takes one session of 60‑90 minutes and typically lightens teeth by 2‑4 shades, with an effect that lasts 1‑2 years.

A crown that has come off can usually be re-cemented in minutes, and an emergency visit deals with the urgent part where that can be done safely: an aesthetic filling, for example. If a crown or filling lets go mid-holiday, see what to do when a crown or filling falls out.

How long a filling lasts depends on the mouth more than on the visit. A review of 34 clinical trials with at least five years of follow-up found that annual failure rates of 1% to 3% can be achieved with back-tooth composite restorations, and that repairing a restoration is a viable alternative to replacing it. Our own working figure for composite is 5‑7 years.

What can be finished in a week?

Crowns, veneers and a Hollywood smile follow the same rhythm. At the first appointment you have an examination and a digital X-ray, the tooth is prepared under local anaesthesia, a scan or impression is taken and a temporary is fitted the same day. The laboratory then makes the restoration in 3‑5 days while you enjoy Side. At the second appointment it is tried in, adjusted and fixed, and the bite is checked before your flight. The whole visit takes 5‑7 days. For a Hollywood smile, Digital Smile Design shows you the planned shape from your photos and scans before any tooth is touched.

A root canal is the one the tooth decides. It takes one or two appointments, depending on the tooth. The NHS says the treatment usually takes two or more appointments, and a Cochrane review of 47 studies found no evidence that one visit works better than several: the results for the tooth did not differ, although more people reported pain in the first week after single-visit treatment. A back tooth usually needs a crown afterwards, two visits over 5‑7 days. Whether it all fits one stay is the dentist's call, and if you fly in between, the tooth is sealed and you take a written plan home. More in root canal on holiday.

Two-visit dental treatment timeline: implant surgery in Turkey, healing at home, then a short second visit for the final crowns
Implant treatment runs over two visits: surgery on the first trip, healing at home, and the final crowns on a short second trip.

Which treatments need two trips?

Implants. Placing the implant is quick, 30‑60 minutes per implant under local anaesthesia, but the implant then has to fuse with the bone, which takes 2‑4 months, up to 6 in the upper jaw. The first trip of 3‑5 days covers the examination, a 3D scan, placement and a check before you fly. A temporary tooth covers any visible gap. On the second trip, 4‑7 days, the crown is made, fitted and checked.

All-on-4 follows the same two steps. Surgery and a fixed temporary bridge take 3‑5 days, with the bridge attached within 24‑72 hours so you leave with teeth rather than a gap. The definitive bridge follows on a second visit of 4‑7 days. Implants carry a written 10-year guarantee, crowns and veneers 5 years.

What decides whether something fits?

  • The examination. Gum disease is treated before veneers, crowns or implants, and an infected tooth comes before a crown. If that adds a step, the plan says so before you travel.
  • The X-ray or scan. A digital X-ray shows whether a tooth can be saved and how much structure is left; a 3D scan shows whether there is enough bone for an implant.
  • Your flight date. The number of days between your first chair day and your flight decides which of the rows above is realistic. Start early in the stay so there is room for adjustments before you leave.

Why should you not squeeze a two-trip treatment into one?

Because the waiting is biology, not scheduling. The months an implant needs to fuse with the bone cannot be shortened by a longer stay or a busier calendar, and loading the implant before it has healed puts at risk a treatment meant to last for decades.

The two-trip plan is not a trap. It is the sequence that leaves you with a fixed temporary tooth or bridge in between, a written guarantee and a clinic you can message from home. If someone promises a finished implant tooth within your single week, ask how, and in writing.

Phone photos show what is visible; a panoramic X-ray shows the roots and bone, which is why the plan relies on both.

How do you find out what fits before you fly?

Send photos. On WhatsApp, +90 530 575 47 18, attach clear pictures of the teeth you are worried about, add a panoramic X-ray if you have one, and say how many days you will be in Side. A written plan arrives within 24 hours: the treatment tooth by tooth, the materials, the visits and the days. See a treatment plan from photos and how many days to plan.

The clinic is in Eskihisar, Manavgat, 5‑25 minutes by car from Side centre, Kumköy, Çolaklı, Titreyengöl, Evrenseki, Kızılağaç, Gündoğdu and Manavgat centre. Chairs are open Monday to Saturday, 09:00‑19:00, closed on Sunday, and we help arrange transport from your hotel. Send your photos on WhatsApp.

When is the clinic route not the right choice?

Go to a hospital emergency department, not a dental clinic, if toothache comes with swelling around the eye or neck, or swelling in the mouth or neck that makes it hard to breathe, swallow or speak. That is the NHS advice, and it applies on holiday too. Toothache that lasts more than two days also needs a dentist rather than waiting it out.

The clinic is also not the answer when your treatment is a two-trip one and you want it all done in the days you have. In that case start the first stage here, or take the written plan to your dentist at home. For a sudden problem, see the emergency dentist page. Results depend on the individual case and the examination.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I get dental work done during a one-week holiday in Turkey?

Yes, for most treatments. Fillings, bonding, whitening, re-cementing and emergency pain relief take one visit. Crowns, veneers and a Hollywood smile take 5‑7 days over two appointments, and a root canal takes one or two. Implants and All-on-4 need two trips, with 2‑4 months of healing between them.

Which dental treatments can be done in one visit?

Aesthetic fillings and bonding take one session of 30‑90 minutes, usually without anaesthesia. In-office whitening takes one session of 60‑90 minutes. A loose crown can usually be re-cemented in minutes, and an emergency visit deals with the urgent part where it is safe to do so.

Can crowns or veneers be finished in a week?

Yes. The first appointment covers examination, X-ray, preparation, a scan and temporaries; the laboratory takes 3‑5 days; the second appointment fits and checks the final restoration. The whole visit takes 5‑7 days over two appointments, and a Hollywood smile follows the same pattern.

Can I have a root canal treatment on holiday?

Usually. It takes one or two appointments, depending on the tooth. A back tooth then needs a crown, two visits over 5‑7 days. Whether everything fits one stay is the dentist's decision; if you fly in between, the tooth is sealed and you take a written plan home.

Can I get an implant in a one-week holiday?

Placing the implant fits into the first trip of 3‑5 days, but the implant needs 2‑4 months to fuse with the bone, up to 6 in the upper jaw. The permanent crown is fitted on a second trip of 4‑7 days. All-on-4 follows the same two steps, with a fixed temporary bridge within 24‑72 hours.

How do I find out in advance what fits my holiday?

Send photos on WhatsApp, +90 530 575 47 18, which is answered at any hour, and say how many days you have. A written plan comes within 24 hours, listing the treatment tooth by tooth, the materials, the visits and the days. A panoramic X-ray helps if you have one.

What if my treatment does not fit the days I have?

Start the first stage in Side, or take the written plan to your dentist at home. A sealed tooth or a temporary restoration protects you in between, and you can message the clinic from home. A two-trip treatment should not be rushed into one trip.
